Douglas S. Brown has been named a managing partner with Pelorus Advisors in Hartford where he heads the firm’s business coaching and strategy and performance practice areas. Brown is an academic program manager for Post University’s online MBA program in Waterbury and vice chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’ Small Firm Practice Management Section. He began his career as a lawyer with Tyler, Cooper & Alcorn and later served as corporate counsel then global vice president of aftermarket management for Kuehne + Nagel. Catherine A. Mohan has been named treasurer of McCarter & English, the first woman to hold this position at the regional law firm. She is a founding partner of the firm’s Hartford office — established 10 years ago this month. Mohan also assumes the role of chair of the McCarter Finance Committee and serves in an advisory capacity to the executive committee. She plans to continue her work in the product liability practice at the firm. Mohan serves on the board for Mercy Housing and Shelter and is the chairman for its capital campaign. She is a board member and the past president of the Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation. The firm has 400 attorneys in offices in Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Stamford, and Wilmington.

Philip R. Cameron has been named chief marketing officer at Sparta Insurance Co. in Hartford. He joined the company in 2008 as vice president of marketing and in that capacity was responsible for producing and developing specialty and alternative risk programs. Prior to joining Sparta, Cameron was senior marketing executive at Discover Re.

Hoffman Auto Group has named Al Simon as its director of marketing and communications. He will oversee the public relations and marketing departments, as well as the business development center and receptionists. Simon began his career as a customer relations specialist with American Honda Motor Co. He started at Hoffman in 2000 as the customer service manager and soon was promoted to internet sales and business development manager.

Greta Johansson, deputy district director of the Small Business Administration’s Connecticut office since 1996, has been named district director for the New Hampshire SBA office. In Hartford, she has been responsible for management and direction of the staff, educating and assisting many community lenders with the use of the SBA loan guarantee products, and provided direct help to small businesses owners seeking to access federal contracting programs.

Brooke Penders has joined Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity as director of development. She has more than 15 years’ experience helping corporate, non-profit, educational and political organizations achieve their program and philanthropic goals. Most recently she was director of philanthropic engagement at United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.

Christ Makris has joined Baumer Ltd. as a product marketing manager in Southington. He will develop internal and external marketing and training strategies to support and promote Baumer’s inductive, capacitive, magnetic photoelectric, laser and mycom sensor lines. For the past 5 years, he served as product marketing manager and program manager for Diehl Controls in Illinois.

George Moore has rejoined St. Francis Occupational Health as medical director of the practice’s Windsor clinic. He served as medical director of the clinic from 2003 to 2008. He most recently was associated with Concentra Health Services, Springfield, Mass. Dr. Indrek Melder, who had been serving as the medical director of Windsor facility, has now relocated to the St. Francis Occupational Health office located in Torrington. St. Francis Occupational Health provides acute care treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses.
