Mary-Ellen Sposato Rogers has joined Learning Dynamics of Wallingford as a training consultant, specializing in human resources, health and wellness, and entrepreneurial strategy development practices. She is the founder and CEO of Work/Life Innovations, which was acquired by a Fortune 500 healthcare company. She began her career at The Travelers, where she instituted one of the first corporate work/life resource programs in the nation. She is a trustee of Providence College, serves on the executive board for “Women Executives in Health Care,” and was honored as one of “Eight Remarkable Women in Business” by The Hartford Business Journal.

John Budd has been appointed national practice leader at Mass Mutual Retirement Services, covering the division’s institutional retirement products. Most recently, Budd had served as managing director with MassMutual Retirement Services, a position he held for over 24 years. Also, Brian Mezey has joined MassMutual’s Retirement Services Division as managing director of institutional sales, taking over Budd’s duties. Mezey had been with E&M Consulting of Raymond James & Associates, Inc., where he was a retirement plan advisor and a member of MassMutual’s Advisor Partners Council.

Four physicians have joined the medical staff of St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Joan K. Gelin, a specialist in emergency medicine, is practicing as a member of the St. Francis Emergency Medical Group. Dr. Gelin received her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y. She served as a resident in emergency medicine at the Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her internship in internal medicine at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center/University of Arizona, Phoenix. David Spiro, a neurosurgeon, is practicing as a member of the St. Francis Medical Group. Dr. Spiro was most recently associated with Central Connecticut Neurosurgery and Spine, in New Britain. He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, brain tumors, endoscopic pituitary surgery, and CyberKnife® stereotactic radiosurgery. Dr. Spiro received his degree in osteopathic medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Old Westbury, N.Y. He served as an intern at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Colton, Calif., and as a resident in neurosurgery at the Harvey Cushing Institutes of Neuroscience at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, N.Y. and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, N.Y. Jonathan A. Zeisler, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, also is practicing as a member of St. Francis Medical Group. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook, Stony Brook, N.Y. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at New York University, New York, N.Y. He also serves as an assistant professor within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training Program at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. And, Xuemei Li, a specialist in hematology and oncology, is practicing as a member of Medical Oncology and Blood Disorders, LLP. She received her medical degree from the Capital University of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China, and served as a fellow in hematology and oncology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Berkshire Medical Center, the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Pittsfield, Mass. She also obtained master’s degree of pharmacology from University of Toledo.

Emilie Montgomery has been appointed early care and education director at Community Renewal Team in Hartford. CRT provides infant/toddler care and preschool programs, including Head Start, to more than 1,600 children in the Hartford, Windsor, Bloomfield, Portland, Clinton, Middletown as well as delegate programs in East Hartford and Bristol. Montgomery most recently served as the director of quality assurance for the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project.
