Robert D. Miller has been named head of North American sales for Conning Inc., a Hartford-based global provider of asset management solutions, services and research to the insurance industry. Miller will also join Conning’s management committee. He joined Conning in 2007 and has been responsible for the development of strategic relationships throughout North America. In 2010 he was named a managing director. Prior to this role, he was head of insurance business development at Dwight Asset Management. Previously, Mr. Miller was commissioner for the Vermont Department of Economic Development.

Kenneth Tucker has been named director of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA). He has been with the Connecticut Department of Labor since 1986 and had been serving as the division’s acting director. He previously worked as an occupational health and safety manager and a CONN-OSHA health compliance officer.

Thomas R. Battles has been named director of civil engineering at HRP Associates in Farmington. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the civil engineering and construction fields, managing a wide range of projects for state, municipal, and private clients including the construction of bridge replacements, indoor athletic facilities, parking garages, and environmental remediation and engineered control systems.

Steve Machesney has joined Hartford web design and marketing firm Fathom as vice president of strategy. He had been the global online strategist for Covidien and, most recently, general manager for online marketing educator WebMark. At Covidien, he worked on unifying hundreds of legacy branded websites into one global digital presence and helped establish a universal, scaleable framework for online marketing operations. Most recently at WebMark, he oversaw the creation, management and delivery of an online marketing curriculum through educational leader New Horizons Computer Learning Centers.

Bradford H. Wainman has been named senior vice president of Simon Konover Development Corp. He will direct the strategic expansion of the company’s portfolio through a combination of new construction and property acquisition. Wainman joined The Simon Konover Co. last fall as capital markets director and will continue in that role. He had been partner-managing director with Invictus Consulting Group LLC and has held senior finance positions with People’s United Bank and Shawmut Bank Connecticut, N.A. The parent firm, The Simon Konover Co., is headquartered in West Hartford.

George Harvey has been appointed director, mailing product marketing for Neopost’s complete line of Mailing Systems. Harvey joined Neopost USA after leading the Neopost New England district for three years where he was named national director of the year. Harvey spent 20 years at Pitney Bowes in a variety of sales and marketing roles, most recently as the director of sales operations, Metro NYC area. Neopost USA is based in Milford.

Harry Evert has been named senior vice president, strategic planning & operations, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Evert has been in various administrative positions with the hospital since 1980, most recently as vice president, operations. He also served as president of the former Middlesex VNA (now Middlesex Hospital Homecare). Before joining Middlesex Hospital, Evert held management positions at New Milford Hospital and Danbury Hospital. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for VHA HealthDirect Inc. and Visiting Nurse Partnership of Connecticut.

Charles Frago has joined Wolf & Co. as a principal on the tax service team for the Boston firm’s financial institutions group. Frago was based in KPMG’s Hartford office and served a range of financial institutions throughout the Northeast. He will focus on tax planning, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, stock-based compensation and preparing clients for tax examinations. Wolf & Co. employs over 175 people, and has offices in Boston and Springfield, MA and Albany, N.Y.

Candice E. Canace has been named public relations and marketing manager at Wealth Management Group of North America LLC in Farmington. She is a recent graduate of Bryant University.

Jordan Rapoport has been named managing director of Jordan Caterers Design Event Planners in Cheshire. At age 31,he will be taking charge of the family firm founded by his father Jeffrey and his mother Debra nearly 33 years ago. He joined the organization in 2010 as the director of sales, having previously been employed as business development associate with Lockwood Advisors, Inc., an affiliate of Pershing LLC, a BNY Mellon company. Jeffrey Rapoport remains as chairman of the board.

Mark S. Chory has joined Union Savings Bank in Danbury as vice president of commercial lending. Chory had been vice president, relationship manager and, most recently, portfolio manager at Webster Bank, where he started as assistant vice president in 1992.

Robert P. (Bob) Nenna Jr. has been named executive director of the Wheeler Family YMCA in Plainville. Nenna most recently served as executive director of the West Hartford and Tri-Town YMCA’s. Shawn Fongemie succeeds Nenna as executive director of the West Hartford and Tri-Town YMCA’s. Fongemie most recently served as associate executive director of the Farmington Valley YMCA where he developed the Livestrong program, which helps cancer survivors regain strength after treatment through exercise and nutrition — and the support of fellow survivors.
