Kenton McCoy has been promoted to senior vice president and director of design at the newly re-named firm of Smith Edwards McCoy Architects in Hartford. McCoy joined the firm in 1979 as a staff architect and was appointed director of design in 1988. Among his most significant projects are the Montessori Magnet School, the restoration of the Trinity College Long Walk, the University of Hartford Magnet School, and the Master Plan, Commons and Library for the Renbrook School in West Hartford.

Steven A. Gagnon has joined BlumShapiro as an audit principal in the West Hartford-based regional accounting and business consulting firm’s manufacturing/distribution group. Gagnon previously worked at McGladrey & Pullen where he was director of audit and accounting.

Berkshire Bank, which recently acquired Connecticut Bank & Trust, has added five managers. Elizabeth Pierson becomes vice president, commercial product manager. Most recently, she was vice president, credit risk management and compliance at Legacy Banks. She also has been at Sovereign Bank as vice president, commercial director of planning and analysis. Seth Pilsbury becomes vice president, commercial enterprise officer. Pilsbury most recently was senior vice president, director of expense analysis and risk review at Sovereign Bank. Brett Brbovic becomes vice president, controller. Brbovic comes from KPMG, LLP where he was a senior manager. William Schaefer becomes vice president, chief accounting officer. Schaefer has been at Albany International Corp as an assistant controller and financial reporting manager. Michael Vaccaro becomes vice president, audit manager. He previously worked as a senior auditor with Accume Partners and in IT advisory services with KPMG, LLP.

Tracey Sims joins Edge Technology Services in Middletown as business development manager. She had served as an account executive for Celerity in Hartford. She also worked for QCD of America and Worldcom as sales trainer/recruiter and global sales manager respectively.

Jon Galaska has been named territory sales manager in the field sales department at Dymax Corp. in Torrington. In his new position, He will help manufacturers in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Previously, he was program manager — electronics and also acted as electronics market segment specialist, application engineer, and technical services engineer.

St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center has added two hospitalists. Lynn Phillips received her medical degree from The University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at The Miriam Hospital-Brown University School of Medicine in Providence. Avinash Srikanth received his medical degree from the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellur, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago, Ill. Both are practicing as members of St. Francis Medical Group.

Three new attorneys have joined Reid and Riege’s Hartford office — Mary E. Mintel, Gregory M. Rada and Erek M. Sharp. Mintel is an associate in the firm’s environmental practice area. Kirk Bodick has been appointed vice president of sales at Akadémos Inc., a provider of online bookstores and marketplaces to educational institutions. Most recently, he served as vice president of institutional sales’ eastern region at Pearson Learning Solutions. Bodick also has served in multiple management positions for PLATO Learning, Inc., including regional vice president for North American post-secondary sales. Akadémos is based in Norwalk.

Nicole Dentamaro has joined regional engineering firm Tighe & Bond Inc. as a geographic information systems analyst in the Middletown office. She is part of a team offering environmental analysis for brownfields and other projects, parcel mapping, utility data development, web hosting, and application development. She has more than eight years of experience as a GIS professional in Connecticut.
