Keiler & Company, an advertising and marketing communications firm, recently promoted one member of its account management group, and welcomed the return of another. Maggie McDonald, who joined Keiler in 2005 as assistant account manager, is now account manager, supervising strategic planning on behalf of various clients. Lora Carr has returned to Keiler after a year-long absence. During that time, she worked as an account supervisor at Cronin and Company of Glastonbury.

ING’s CEO of U.S. Retirement Services, Catherine H. Smith, was recently named to American Banker and U.S. Banker’s 2009 list of The Top 25 Most Powerful Nonbank Women in Finance. The rankings were released on September 23, and showcase those professionals who are identified by the publications as being the top performers in the securities, asset management, insurance, private equity and exchange businesses. Smith, who is number 9 on the list, has been leading ING’s Retirement Services division since December 2008.

The Connecticut Broadcasters Association has announced the election of Eleanor (Nell) DeVane to its board of directors. DeVane is vice president and associate general counsel of ESPN, whose world headquarters are located in Bristol.

Leslie Hammond Coll, a broker with Gillette Real Estate of Windsor, recently achieved the National Association of Realtors’ Green Designation. She is one of only 40 Realtors in Connecticut to have officially attained this specialty designation. It is awarded after completing an 18 hour-long course of study of core and elective courses. Continuing education is required to maintain the accreditation.

RBC Wealth Management of Hartford has announced that Mark Monroe, financial consultant — private client group, has become a certified financial planner. CFP certification is a process that includes education, examination, experience and ethical requirements. The process focuses on major themes such as investments, retirement, insurance, income tax, and trust & estate planning.

Simsbury Bank announced that Romualdo (Aldo) Polce has joined its team as assistant treasurer and financial analyst. Polce has had a long career in financial services, including Aetna, CIGNA and The Hartford. He is a graduate of the University of Hartford with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and an MBA in Insurance and Finance. He is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
