Ronald J. Begansky was elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Northwest Community Bank, headquartered in Winsted. A director of the board since 1997, Begansky served as vice chairman from 2004 until June 2009. He succeeds Chairman William J. Darcey, who retired from the Board August 22, 2009. Begansky is a CPA and operates his own accounting firm in Granby.

Community Health Resources, a non-profit behavioral health system of care serving towns east and north of Hartford, announced that Dr. John Santopietro has joined its team as medical director. Dr. Santopietro comes to CHR with extensive experience in community psychiatry throughout New England. Most recently, he was medical director for the Middlesex Connecticut Hospital Adult Outpatient Department, serving more than 3,000 individuals per year.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter has named Loretta Sfiridis, C.P.C.U., associate vice president of finance and administration. Previously, from 1999 to 2009, Sfiridis was affiliated with the March of Dimes Foundation, Connecticut Chapter, serving as director of operations where she was responsible for managing accounting, finance and operations.

Nicole J. Schulz, of West Hartford, has been named vice president for revenue cycle at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. In her new position, she will oversee the hospital’s Patient Financial Services, Patient Access, Health Information Management and Revenue Cycle departments. She has been associated with Saint Francis since 2006, and previously served as director of revenue cycle.

Aseem Vashist, M.D., of Cheshire, has joined the medical and dental staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Vashist received his medical degree from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India. He served as an intern and resident in internal medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center-Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y. Dr. Vashist served as an instructor in internal medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the Yale School of Medicine from 2004 to 2005 and as an assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine at the Yale School of Medicine from 2005 to 2008. He currently holds an appointment as an adjunct assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.

J.H. Cohn LLP, one of the top 15 accounting and consulting firms in the United States, has promoted Jonathan Collett, CPA, a resident of Glastonbury, to senior manager. Collet works in the Tax department of J.H. Cohn’s Glastonbury office.
