Marion E. Morra was elected to chair the American Cancer Society national board of directors for 2007-2008. Morra is also co-principal investigator at the Cancer Information Service Research Consortium and associate clinical professor at Yale School of Nursing.

Pankaj Prakash was hired as manager for data analysis at Quinnipiac University Polling Institute in Hamden. Prakash was most recently research assistant at the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at UConn.

Barnum Financial Group in Hartford hired Georgia R. Wright as financial services representative. Wright was previously career agent/registered representative at Mass Mutual.

Jon M. Katz was named specialist in maternal and fetal medicine at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Katz was most recently associate director for the division of maternal-fetal medicine at York Hospital/WellSpan Medical Group.

Paul Becker was elected to the board of governors of Leading Jewelers of the World. Becker is owner of Becker’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry in West Hartford.

Dianne Auger was named CEO of the Charter Oak chapter of the American Red Cross in Farmington. Auger was previously CEO of the Mid-Fairfield chapter of the Red Cross.

Diversified Project Management Inc. in Hartford hired Ronald P. Goodin as project executive. Goodin was formerly senior director of operational and facility planning/engineering at Eastern Connecticut Health Network.

Amy Span Wergeles, counsel at Robinson & Cole in Hartford, was appointed to the board of directors at Boundless Playgrounds Inc.

Community Health Resources announced Howard Sovronsky as chief operating officer. Sovronsky most recently worked in private practice in forensic mental health evaluations and consultations and also at the Nassau Health Care Corp.

Kenneth R. Goebel was promoted to executive director of principal gifts at the University of Connecticut Foundation Inc. Goebel was previously assistant vice president of annual giving. Also promoted to the position of assistant vice president of development at the UConn Health Center was Wendy M. Lux. Lux was formerly director of development at the center. Joseph Hanrahan was promoted to assistant vice president of development at the UConn Health Center. He had been in the position of director of development at the school of engineering.
