Belachew Tessema, M.D., of Farmington, has joined the medical and dental staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Tessema received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He served as an intern in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York; a resident in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary; and a fellow in rhinology, advanced sinus and endoscopic skull base surgery at the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine. A diplomate of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, Tessema is a member of the North American Skull Base Society, the American Academy of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, American Rhinologic Society and American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Harris Kantor, M.D., has joined the The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s medical staff. He earned his medical degree at SABA University School of Medicine, Netherlands-Antilles. Kantor completed an internal medicine internship at the Hospital of Saint Raphael; and an anesthesiology residency at Tufts Medical Center, Boston. He practices with New Britain Anesthesia, PC, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Debra Bayer Cohen of West Hartford was recently named vice president/sales for Hometown Marketing, a full-service agency featuring custom publishing, advertising and communications. Hometown Marketing publishes Living in West Hartford, Living on the Shoreline and Living in the Valley magazines. Cohen was previously business development director at Ledger Publications and had worked in national advertising at the Boston Herald.

Nirupama Anne, M.D., has joined The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s medical staff. She earned her medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, N.Y. Anne completed an internship and surgical residency at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, New Hyde Park, N.Y.; and a surgical oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, N.Y. She practices at Connecticut Surgical Group.

Maggie McDonald, who joined Keiler & Co. in 2005 as assistant account manager, is now account manager, supervising strategic planning on behalf of various clients, including The Stanley Works, New Britain; New York University, New York, N.Y.; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Hartford; The Keeney Manufacturing Co., Newington; Sun Coffee Roasters, Plainville; and Dominican College, Orangeburg, N.Y.
