Donna Gilbert of Suffield has joined Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center as director of accounting services. In her new position, she will be responsible for coordination of accounting services within the Saint Francis Care system. She most recently served as a principal with Kostin, Ruffkess & Co. in Farmington.
Ahmed M. Khan, M.D., has been named head of the Division of Neurosurgery at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. Khan, who is board-certified in neurosurgery, earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed an internship in general surgery at the UConn School of Medicine. He completed a residency in neurological surgery at Rhode Island Hospital, Brown University School of Medicine, Providence, R.I.
Jeffrey Cohen and ImageWorks LLC were awarded the Tolland County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Award for Corporate Citizenship. The awards, nominated by peers in the community, are handed out by the chamber for various categories, including best new business, economic development, business growth, and corporate citizen.
John Simeone has been elected to the board of directors at Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, a youth- mentoring organization in Connecticut. Simeone is vice president of technical operations for Comcast’s western New England region, which includes Connecticut, western Massachusetts, Vermont and New York. He is in practice with Connecticut Neurosurgery and Spine, with offices in New Britain and Southington.
Alex Citurs, assistant professor of business administration at Eastern Connecticut State University, was presented the outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit in the academic advising faculty category of the National Academic Advising Association’s National Awards Program for Academic Advising during the NACADA Annual Conference in San Antonio. Established in 1983, the national awards program for academic advising honors individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising.
Kostin, Ruffkess & Company LLC, a Farmington-based certified public accounting and business advisory firm, announces the appointments of Craig Kanzel and Susan McLean as managers in the auditing and accounting practice. In their new positions, Kanzel will provide services to the firm’s diverse middle market client base, while McLean will work with the firm’s not-for-profit clients.
