Wynn Schoolnik of Wallingford recently joined the human resources consulting firm of KardasLarson LLC as a partner and head of their Recruitment Services. Prior to KardasLarson, he had his own firm, Schoolnik & Associates. Schoolnik has extensive experience in human resources and staffing/recruiting. He brings knowledge to the hiring process having served as a managing director of both national retained and contingency staffing firms.
Ceil Pettit, registered physical therapist, was named a recipient of the 2009 Spirit of Planetree Award, which recognizes her personal embodiment of Southington Care Center’s patient-centered approach to providing care. In conjunction with the 2009 Planetree Annual Conference held October 4-7 in Baltimore, Md., the award was presented by Planetree President Susan B. Frampton at a special ceremony attended by Planetree members from across the globe.
Janet Uthman, director of product management for Comcast’s Western New England Region, was recently selected to participate in the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications’ prestigious executive leadership development program. Uthman, who is based in Comcast’s regional headquarters in Berlin, was one of just 40 business executives from across the country chosen to participate in the 2009-2010 NAMIC class.
Cathy Ann Kamens, M.D., of West Hartford, has joined the medical and dental staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Kamens received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She served as a resident in the Family Practice Residency Program at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Kamens most recently served as a family physician in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Women’s College Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. She previously served as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and as a faculty physician in the family practice program at the Methodist Hospitals of Dallas.
Lisa A. Cox joined S. H. Smith & Co. Inc., as vice president of the in-house underwriting division. She will be located in S.H. Smith’s headquarters in Hartford. Cox is responsible for managing the operations of the company’s in-house underwriting division, which specializes in small commercial property and casualty risks that are not eligible for coverage within the standard markets. Before joining S.H. Smith, she was vice president of strategic initiatives for the Hartford Financial Services Group, where she drove the strategy for the small commercial business unit.
