Morton’s the Steakhouse of Hartford has hired Lauren Zilka as sales and marketing manager. Zilka has more than eight years of experience in the sales and marketing field. She began her career as an event coordinator and quickly moved into marketing, sales and events. She is a graduate of the University of Hartford with a bachelor’s degree. Formerly, Zilka was the marketing, sales and event manager of Gillette Ridge Golf Club.
Megan K. Durning of West Hartford has been named manager, physician relations and network development at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. In her new position, she will serve as a liaison between the hospital and members of its medical and dental staff, maintaining regular contact with physicians and supporting and enhancing their relationship with Saint Francis. She will also oversee leasing arrangements and business development within the Saint Francis Care Access Centers and will assist with the strategic development of ambulatory services throughout the organization’s service area.
Comcast has promoted John Simeone to vice president of technical operations for its Western New England Region, which includes Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, Vermont and New York. In this expanded role, Simeone will drive the continued adoption of the new tools, technologies and practices that are powering Comcast’s proactive approach to customer service. He will oversee field operations for the region, including technical and work force operations, as well as the company’s service centers.
Margaret Martin, distinguished professor of social work and executive assistant to the president for planning at Eastern Connecticut State University, was recently awarded the Jerry G. Gaff Faculty Award for 2009 at the 49th Association for General and Liberal Studies (AGLS) conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Martin was nominated for her leadership at Eastern in overhauling the university’s general education requirements. The Gaff Award was last presented in 2005.
The board of trustees for the Connecticut State University System has elected former state Rep. Richard J. Balducci of Deep River as vice chair and re-elected Theresa Eberhard Asch of Danbury as secretary. The board chair is Karl J. Krapek, appointed earlier this year by Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
