Shaner Hotels announced the appointment of Hal Barth as director of sales for the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell. Barth brings more than 25 years of experience with Marriott, Radisson and IHG brand properties to the hotel. He served as director of sales for the Crowne Plaza Hartford Downtown, and was most recently the director of sales and marketing for the Biltmore Hotel in Providence, R.I.

AGC Inc. of Meriden has appointed R. Bruce Andrews as president and CEO. Andrews has more than 40 years’ experience in aerospace, nuclear, and oil and gas equipment manufacturing. Andrews’ career spans various roles, from contributing engineer to company president, to senior officer of public companies with multibusiness unit responsibility. Andrews was formerly president of United Nuclear Corp. in Uncasville prior to becoming group vice president of UNC’s six aerospace manufacturing companies.

Vikkimarie Austin has been promoted to business development and sales manager in the TD Banknorth branch at 123 East Main St. in Plainville. An assistant vice president, she is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the branch, and developing and overseeing small business loans, deposit accounts, consumer lending, investment and insurance services provided to customers throughout the area. Austin joined TD Banknorth in 2004 and has 23 years of banking experience.

Whittlesey & Hadley, P.C., a provider of accounting and financial services, has announced two promotions in their audit department: Jeffrey Myshrall, CPA, as accounting and auditing manager; and Joseph Calamita as audit supervisor. Myshrall has been with the firm for 10 years and holds bachelor degrees in accounting and actuarial mathematics from the University of Connecticut. Calamita has been with Whittlesey & Hadley since 2002. He holds a bachelors and masters degree in accounting from Quinnipiac University.

Susan Kole of West Granby has been named director of patient access at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. In her new position, Kole will be responsible for admitting, patient registration, emergency department registration, financial clearance and central scheduling at Saint Francis. A veteran of nearly 30 years with the Saint Francis Care system, Kole joined the former Mount Sinai Hospital in 1979 and was assistant admitting director at the time of the Saint Francis-Mount Sinai merger in 1995.

Richard M. Scialabba Jr. has been promoted to senior accountant for the Glastonbury accounting firm of Sheptoff, Reuber & Co.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed Carlos Alvarez of Farmington to the Governor’s Small Business Advisory Council. Alvarez is publisher and CEO of the Hartford-based El Imparcial Newspaper. He is also manager/CEO of Hartford-based First Option Realty. He serves on the executive board of the Spanish American Merchants Association (SAMA) and chairs the state’s Latino Puerto Rican Affairs Commission.
