Devon Woodstock of Windsor has been named the Connecticut Convention Center’s 2008 Associate of the Year. A three-year associate, Woodstock received the honor before more than 200 colleagues at the convention center’s annual Associate Appreciation Celebration. He had previously been recognized as the center’s associate of the month in June.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed Independent Electrical Contractors New England executive director Lisa Hutner to the Connecticut State Apprenticeship Council. Hutner’s active involvement and knowledge of state apprenticeship standards precedes her appointment.

Jillian Proffitt has been named director of multichannel marketing for Barker Specialty Company in Cheshire. Proffitt joined the Barker Specialty team in 2006 as an account executive working for one of Barker Specialty’s largest account.

The University of Hartford recently inducted alumni Richard H. Booth, who earned a bachelor’s degree in 1969 and a master’s in 1977, and Gerald V. Vitkauskas, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1964, into the new Barney School of Business Hall of Fame. Barney School Dean James Fairfield-Sonn presented Vitkauskas and Booth with plaques commemorating their induction.

TRO Jung|Brannen, an architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm in Farmington, announced that Philip M. Koeniger, AIA, managing principal of the firm’s Connecticut office, has achieved his LEED accreditation. The firm now has 61 LEED accredited professionals.

Daniel Horowitz of West Hartford has joined Bridgeport-based Merit Insurance as a senior account executive specializing in property and casualty and personal lines. Horowitz received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. He recently completed an insurance industry course to earn designation as a commercial lines coverage specialist.

Roger Parrott, president of RoVic Inc., a cleaning strategies and training firm that distributes janitorial supplies and equipment and is headquartered in Manchester, announced the recent appointment of Thomas J. Murphy as vice president of sales. Murphy will be responsible for sales and services development throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Murphy has been with RoVic since 2005.

Shipman & Goodwin has named tax attorney Raymond Casella as a partner of the firm. Casella practices in all areas of federal, state and local tax law. He has extensive experience representing individuals, corporations, partnerships, municipalities and tax-exempt organizations including private foundations, public charities, schools, hospitals, business leagues, trade associations and clubs.

Wiggin and Dana announced that Jeffrey R. Babbin, a litigation partner in its appellate practice group, has become a fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. Babbin is the seventh member (and only the fifth in private practice) to be invited from Connecticut.

Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s leading workplace law firms, announced that Holly L. Cini was recently chosen for partnership in the firm’s Hartford office.
