Siobhan C. Collins, M.D., a dermatologist with specialized training in Mohs micrographic surgery, a technique to remove common types of skin cancer, has joined the Department of Dermatology at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. Dr. Collins is a graduate of Tufts University and the UConn School of Medicine. She completed both her residency in dermatology and fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstruction surgery at Brown Medical School in Providence.

Reid and Riege in Hartford has announced the addition of Kathryn S. Windsor as a new associate to the firm. Windsor joins the corporations and business organizations practice area in the firm’s Hartford office. Most recently, she was an associate with Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein and Pierce in Rhode Island.

Blum Shapiro, the largest regional accounting and business consulting firm based in Connecticut, has announced that Janet M. Nahorney, CPA, has been promoted to partner. Nahorney, a resident of Newington, directs Blum Shapiro’s employee benefit assurance services. She specializes in planning, design and audits of qualified retirement plans and employee welfare plans, including privately held businesses, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions.

Bingham McCutchen LLP has elected 15 lawyers to its partnership, including two Hartford-based lawyers. The newly elected partners from Hartford are Michael Blanchard and Lisa Valentovish. Blanchard, a lawyer in the securities litigation group, represents companies and their officers and directors in securities class actions, shareholder derivative litigation, Securities and Exchange Commission regulatory investigations and complex business litigation. Valentovish, a lawyer in the financial restructuring group, focuses on representing large creditor groups in complex debt restructurings and international insolvency matters.

Keller Williams Realty announced that George Renfro has been appointed team leader for Keller Williams Realty Greater Hartford. Prior to his appointment as team leader, Renfro served as team leader for several Keller Williams offices, primarily in the Houston, Texas area. His real estate career began in 1974.

Katie H. Anderson joined Federman, Lally & Remis LLC, Farmington, as an audit manager. Anderson was previously director of finance at United Health Group. In addition, Donald W. Wells Jr. joined the firm’s audit staff. Wells recently graduated from the University of Connecticut. The firm also announced that Deborah L. Denno joined the company as a tax manager. Denno was previously director of finance at Triad Healthcare Inc.

Sunbelt, the world’s largest business brokerage network, has opened a new office in Avon serving the Connecticut counties of Hartford, Tolland, Litchfield and Middlesex. Its business brokerage services will assist those looking to buy or sell a business. Peter Rossato, owner of Sunbelt of Hartford, is opening the new office.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed Carol P. Wallace of Wallingford to the board of the Connecticut Development Authority. Wallace is president and CEO of Middlefield-based Cooper-Atkins Corp., a leading manufacturer of temperature, time and humidity instruments based in Middlefield.

Mintz & Hoke Communications Group has hired Julie Sears as a production coordinator. In her new position, Sears will be working on a variety of the agency’s accounts, primarily in print production. Before her employment at Mintz & Hoke, Sears worked for Alphagraphics in Hartford in the prepress and production areas.

Shipman & Goodwin LLP has announced that attorney James W. Bergenn has been certified as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multimillion dollar verdicts, awards and settlements. The organization was founded in 1993 and there are approximately 3,000 members nationwide. Fewer than 1 percent of U.S. lawyers are members.
