Hartford Hospital has appointed Bimal M. Patel as vice president of support services. In this role, Patel will oversee an operating division with about 2,000 employees who handle various services within the hospital, including engineering and facilities, environmental services, food and nutrition, laboratories, laundry, patient support, pharmacy, radiology and security. He joins Hartford Hospital from the Guthrie Healthcare System in Sayre, Pa., where he was administrative director of professional and support services for Robert Packer Hospital.

Dr. Edmund A. Kim of West Hartford has joined the medical staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Kim received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Kim is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and holds an appointment as an assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Kim was previously in private practice in Putnam.

Jeff Mullaly has been promoted from controller to chief financial officer of Cronin and Co. LLC, a national brand marketing communications company. Mullaly joined the agency in September 1997 as controller. As chief financial officer, Mullaly is responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of Cronin’s financial affairs. He is also responsible for all human resources functions.

Servus Management Corp. has announced that Gerald Yates has joined as senior vice president. Yates has worked in the commercial banking and mortgage market for more than 15 years. He will be responsible for business development and market expansion in Connecticut, the Boston area and northern Virginia. Yates comes to Servus from Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, where he served as managing director of their Hartford office.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed Terence Sullivan of Bristol to the state Board of Mediation and Arbitration. Sullivan is personnel director for the Town of Wallingford and has worked for the town since 1995. The board provides mediation services of grievances and contracts in the public and private sector area.

Barnum Financial Group announced that Michael Thompson has joined the firm as a financial services representative working out of its Wethersfield office. He holds his Series 7 and 66 securities registrations. Thompson is also licensed to sell life, health, property and casualty insurance. During his five years in the financial services industry, he has worked as a loan officer with the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, Federal Housing Authority, and the Veterans Administration.
