Jeffrey Flaks, executive vice president and Chief Operations Officer of Hartford Hospital, has been honored by his alma mater, George Washington University, as its 2009 Health Services Management and Leadership Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. The award is given by the university’s alumni association for exceptional commitment, dedication and service to the program and students. Flaks is a graduate of the university’s Master of Health Services Administration Program and served on its board of trustees from 2001 to 2004.

Oakleaf Waste Management in East Hartford, a provider of sustainable waste logistics and recycling solutions, has hired John LaMancuso as chief sales officer. Leading a sales force of 60, LaMancuso will be responsible for all sales efforts and initiatives for the waste logistics and recycling division, Oakleaf’s largest business unit, which currently generates more than $525 million in revenue.

Both McVey and CIGNA’s call operations were finalists for three Stevie Awards customer service categories with McVey receiving top honors for executive leadership resulting in improved service delivery, operational efficiency and exceeding customer expectations.
