Wendy M. Lux recently joined The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain as executive director of development. In this position she will oversee the fundraising activities for the hospital. She is a familiar face to many at the hospital, having worked for the former New Britain General Hospital for more than 15 years in various positions, including director of development, from 1996 to 2002. Before joining HCC, she worked at the University of Connecticut Foundation, where she most recently served as associate vice president for Development for the UConn Health Center.
Shipman & Goodwin attorney Derek Mogck was re-elected to the Construction Institute’s board of directors for 2009-2010. He also serves as the chairman of the Institute’s Program Committee. The institute is a nonprofit, non-partisan association of professionals working to improve the construction industry by sharing experiences and knowledge, advancing relationships, and developing business leaders. It is the only organization of its kind in New England. Mogck practices in the areas of construction and business litigation.
The Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford, an association of accredited estate and business planning professionals, elected the following officers for 2009-10: President Martin J. Coursey of Coursey Financial Group.; Vice President David L. Sullivan of Reid and Riege P.C.; Secretary Linda J. McDowell of Robinson & Cole LLP; and Treasurer Donna Roseman David of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
Deborah Laviero, vice president of marketing and business development for OFI, the Newington-based commercial interiors company, was honored with the distinguished service award given by the Construction Institute, a division of the University of Hartford. “Debbie is among our most trusted advisors.” CI executive director William Cianci, Ph.D, said. “Her dedication goes beyond our organization; she is a vital link for people throughout the architectural, engineering and construction community.” Laviero was the assistant director of the Construction Institute from 1999 to 2001 and has remained an active volunteer.
J. Kevin Kinsella, vice president of government affairs at Hartford Hospital, has been named the recipient of the T. Stewart Hamilton, M.D. Distinguished Service Award by the Connecticut Hospital Association. This award is granted annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to public health. Kinsella received the award at the Connecticut Hospital Association’s annual meeting on June 23 after unanimous vote by the organization’s executive committee. He has worked in health care in Connecticut for more than 40 years.
