Duane Schroder has been named general manager of the 393-room Hilton Hartford. Schroder is responsible for all of the hotel’s operations, sales and administration, as well as the more than 200 associates employed at the property. The hotel is managed by the Waterford Hotel Group, Inc. Schroder joins the Hilton Hartford after serving in key roles at two of Waterford Hotel Group’s AAA Four Diamond properties. He was director of operations at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa and general manager of the Radisson Hotel in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He began his career with Waterford Hotel Group in 2002 as a participant in the company’s international associates program, after completing his hospitality degree from Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa. Schroder then held positions in food and beverage, housekeeping, and the front office departments at numerous hotels within the Waterford portfolio, including front office manager of the Hilton Hartford.

The Simon Konover Company has appointed Mark Consoli as its chief financial officer. He will be responsible for oversight of the financial operations of the firm including accounting, finance, taxes and financial reporting. He has 25 years of real estate experience in accounting, finance and operations in multiple asset classes including office, retail, multifamily, and hotels.  In addition, Consoli has been involved in over $3 billion of capital transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and recapitalizations. He has been the CFO at The Davis Companies, a Boston based real estate investment firm, and served as corporate controller, senior vice president of finance, and COO during his 14-year career at Northland Investment Corp., a $2 billion diversified real estate operating company.

Amy Hewitt Cunningham of Middletown and Roger E. Lavallee of Windsor have been appointed senior program managers for enrollment management and marketing at the Hartford Campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Their responsibilities include working with key executives in Fortune 1000 companies to identify corporate leaders for career development and enrollment at Rensselaer. Previously, Cunningham served as a pharmaceutical sales specialist with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. Lavallee came to Rensselaer after serving as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch.

Nancy Mueller has been named manager of the Maurices store in Torrington. Mueller is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the national specialty fashion chain’s store, including sales performance, visual presentation, and personnel recruitment and training. Maurices is a unit of Dressbarn Inc. with 750 stores in 44 states.

John P. Kearney has joined Connecticut Development Authority Lending Group as vice president, commercial lending. He brings to the CDA more than 25 years of local, regional and international financial services experience. Most recently, he was senior vice president, commercial lending at The Savings Institute Bank and Trust in Willimantic. Previously, Kearney, a CPA, was a partner in the regional accounting firm of Begley, Pascoe & Co, and as senior vice president at HSBC Equator Bank where he was responsible for developing emerging markets in Africa.

Melanie J. Hancock has rejoined Robinson & Cole as counsel in the Employee Benefits and Compensation Group in the firm’s Sarasota, Fla., office. Her practice involves counseling public and private businesses of all sizes regarding their employee benefits plans with an emphasis on health and welfare plans. She began her legal practice in the Hartford office of Robinson & Cole before moving to Tampa where she worked as an attorney with the law firms of Holland & Knight LLP and Hill Ward Henderson.

James Morgan has been promoted to assistant service manager with TAB Computer Systems of East Hartford. In his new role, he will vary his time between in-house and field responsibilities, focusing on client support and satisfaction. During his 12-plus years in the IT industry, Morgan has supported a wide range of clients, most recently in the financial services and banking industries in the Rutland, Vermont area.
