Certified public accounting firm Guilmartin, DiPiro & Sokolowski LLC of Middletown has promoted Christopher Conley to manager. Conley joined GDS in 2005 after receiving his master’s degree in accounting and taxation from the University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Central Connecticut State University.

Saint Francis Hospital has added four new physicians. After working for 14 years as a pediatrician in Wilbraham, Mass., Natalie Komaiszko has joined Dr. John Mathews as a member of Connecticut Valley Pediatrics in Windsor. Visvanathan Murali-Dharan, of West Hartford, completed the Yale University/Bridgeport Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program and served as a fellow in gastroenterology at Yale University/Bridgeport Hospital. At Saint Francis, Dr. Murali-Dharan is practicing as a member of Stone & Goldenberg LLP. Arjuna P. Mannam, will practice as a member of the Saint Francis Medical Group at the Stroke Center at Saint Francis. A diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Mannam is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and the American Medical Association. Eric Silverstein most recently served as chief of the Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology at the University of Connecticut Health Center. At Saint Francis, he will practice as a member of the Saint Francis Medical Group. Litigation Alternatives Inc. in West Hartford has added Katie Marinan Marino as director of marketing. Marino has well established roots in the Connecticut legal community in sales marketing and management, having spent a sizable portion of her career as continuing legal education director/bar services administrator for the Hartford County Bar Association. Marino was also associated with UHY Advisor’s Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services Group.

The Pert Group, a research-based consulting firm in Bloomfield, has announced a number of promotions and hirings, including naming Doug Guion its senior vice president for client service administration and operations. Before joining The Pert Group last year, Guion was the vice president of North American operations at Greenfield Online, a global interactive media and services company.

Pert Group also has hired Donna Patton as group director. She had been at TNS Global. Alex Camacho, who has a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Georgia, brings extensive experience designing and implementing marketing research, brand and marketing strategies in the U.S., the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America. Christine Connolly has been hired as a lead graphic specialist, bringing to The Pert Group nearly 10 years of freelance and agency experience at Martino & Binzer, KPMG LLP and BIGfish Communications. And Lisa Fiducia is joining The Pert Group as a senior design specialist.

Others promoted by The Pert Group in Bloomfield included: Regan Mik, senior account director; Heather Mitchell, qualitative director; Sandy Rubino, senior account manager; Megan Johnston, senior account director; Kyle Letendre and Mike Marcoux, insights managers; Ola Ingram-Ford, research associate; and Sheila Minnifield, field director.

Charles O’Brien, a partner with Cantor Colburn LLP in Hartford, has been appointed to the board of the Connecticut Invention Convention in Hartford. Its mission is to promote creative problem-solving and enhance critical thinking skills in children in grades K-8, creating a pipeline for the state’s future scientists, engineers, doctors, and visionary workers of the 21st century.

Louis M. Mendelson, M.D., was presented with the Regional, State and Local Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Societies Leadership Award by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology at its annual meeting in New Orleans. He was recognized for more than four decades of service to the allergy/immunology communities as a leader, mentor, advocate and educator. Mendelson is a clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Connecticut and a senior attending in the Department of Pediatrics at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where he serves as head of the allergy division and co-director of the food allergy clinic. He has been president of the Connecticut Allergy Society.
