Simon Konover, founder and chairman of The Simon Konover Co. has announced three senior management appointments. Jane Coppa has been promoted to chief executive officer; James Wakim has been promoted to president and chief operating officer; and Mark Consoli has been named chief financial officer. Konover will remain as chairman. Coppa is a principal of The Simon Konover Co. and has a long career in real estate serving in leadership roles within The Simon Konover Co. and its affiliated organizations, Konover Hotel Corp., Konover South, LLC and SIKON Construction Co. LLC. Wakim, who joined the company in 2008, will be responsible for the day to day management and operations of The Simon Konover Co. and its five operating divisions. He had been a partner in the capital markets group of the Boston-based law firm of Brown Rudnick LLP. Consoli held senior financial positions at The Davis Cos., a Boston based real estate investment firm; Northland Investment Corp. and Spaulding & Slye. Simon Konover Co. is headquartered in West Hartford. Through its various divisions, it employs more than 600 people and owns and manages over 5,500 apartment units, over 2.7 million square feet of office and industrial properties, more than 5.5 million square feet of retail space, 18 hotels and specialty properties.

John M. Jezowski has been named senior vice president, relationship manager at Webster Financial Advisors in Hartford. Jezowski joins Webster from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, where he most recently served as a financial advisor. Previous to that, he was vice president, relationship manager with Wachovia Wealth Management. Webster Financial Advisors is the wealth management arm of Webster Bank responsible for affluent individuals and not-for-profit institutions.

Kathleen McGrath has been promoted to executive vice president of Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union. Since joining Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union in 1981, McGrath has served in several positions, most recently vice president of finance. In her new role, she will continue to direct the accounting, finance and investment functions as well as oversee the overall operations of the credit union. Additionally, she will support the newly appointed president and CEO, John Holt, as the second highest executive in the company.

John J. Petillo, dean of Sacred Heart University’s John F. Welch College of Business, has been named interim president of the Fairfield County university effective immediately. Petillo, who has been at Sacred Heart since March 2009, previously was chancellor at Seton Hall University and held several executive positions at companies including BlueCross BlueShield and the Newark Alliance in New Jersey. In resigning as president, Anthony J. Cernera told trustees he wanted to pursue his work as a professor and his leadership roles in national and international Catholic educational organizations. As dean of the business college, Petillo has worked to revise the master’s program and develop plans for new facilities. Prior to that, he was president of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he implemented a series of reforms relating to transparency and accountability, including the adoption of Sarbanes-Oxley protocols for the university.

Bradley M. Smolkin has been named partner of Morrison Mahoney LLP in the Hartford office. His practice areas include professional liability defense, grievance and regulatory issues for attorneys and medical professionals, and civil litigation. Morrison Mahoney LLP is headquartered in Boston, with offices in Hartford, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and London.

Rob Romay has rejoined The Robert H. Lord Co. as division manager, educational furniture, and sales representative for the public library market in New England. For more than two years, Romay has been the territory sales manager for Agati Furniture. Prior to that, he was with Lord for 10 years as manager of educational furniture for the Manchester firm.
