Advanced manufacturer Mott Corp. said it plans to open a new 65,000-square-foot facility near its Farmington headquarters that will double production capacity for its custom-designed engineering business.
Mott will invest tens of millions of dollars in the expansion and add about 100 new jobs, the company said.
Mott produces filtration systems used in the aerospace, clean energy and electric vehicle industries.
The facility is expected to open during the first quarter of next year.
The new facility is at 1690 New Britain Ave., just down the street from the company’s headquarters on Spring Lane. The expansion will allow it to manufacture Porous Transport Layers – which allow for efficient and cost-effective production of hydrogen – at a larger scale.
Mott, founded in 1959, is 100% employee-owned. Its products are used in products ranging from smartphones to implantable medical devices to the Mars Rover.
In December 2020, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz announced that Mott had signed a more-than $10 million contract to expand its production by supplying gas and liquid filtration systems for Mexico’s PEMEX Dos Bocas Refinery Plant Tabasco, Mexico.
That contract was expected to support more than 200 manufacturing and engineering jobs.
Lamont, along with Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. and U.S. Rep. Jahana Hayes, D-5th District, joined Mott Corp. CEO Boris Levin for a press conference Wednesday morning.
