The Aquarion Water Co. and its parent, Eversource Energy, announced on Monday that Charles V. (Chuck) Firlotte will retire as president and chief executive officer on December 31. Don Morrissey, the company’s chief financial officer and executive vice president, will succeed Firlotte as president of the Bridgeport water utility.
Firlotte has been with the company for 32 years, half of that tenure as president and CEO. He also spent four years in England working with Aquarion’s former parent, the Kenda Group.
Morrissey has been with Aquarion for 25 years, and served as the company’s EVP and CFO since 2012. His management experience includes finance, accounting, mergers & acquisitions, risk management and treasury. Morrissey also served as president of Homeowners Safety Valve Co., Aquarion’s non-regulated business, since 2006. A CPA, Morrissey began his career at Arthur Andersen.
Morrissey earned an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business, an advanced managed degree from Harvard Business School, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut. He serves on the boards of the National Association of Water Companies and the Newtown Forest Association.

Charles Negaros Senior and Junior
After a hiatus managing his family’s Atticus Bookstore Café in New Haven, Charles Negaro Jr. is returning to the family’s other business, Chabaso Bakery, as CEO, effective Nov. 1. So announced his father, company founder and chairman Charles Negaro Sr., on Oct. 18. Negaro Jr. succeeds outgoing CEO Trish Karter, whom the senior Negaro describes as a “Friend of Chabaso Emeritus.”

Jill Bassett
Jill Bassett of Bristol has been named assistant dean of student affairs at Quinnipiac University. Bassett most recently was assistant dean of student affairs and retention at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H. Before that, she was associate director of residential life at the University of Bridgeport and assistant to the director of housing at Southern Connecticut State University. Bassett has a doctor of education degree in higher education administration from New England College. She also has a master’s degree in women’s studies and a BA in English from Southern Connecticut State University.
