Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez was arrested again last week; this time charged with extorting money from a potential developer of two properties in the city.
Perez proclaimed his innocence, saying at a press conference, “I want my day in court.”
The mayor is also facing bribery charges relating to work done at his home by city contractor Carlos Costa. He pleaded not guilty and jury selection is scheduled to begin in Perez’s trial on those charges this week.
