The Mohegan Tribe’s wood pellet business has begun the initial installation and retrofit of its third factory in Jasper, Tenn., preparing for a November opening.
Northeast Wood Products makes a high-efficiency, low-cost home heating pellet, made from wood fiber waste and untreated residue generated in wood processing.
The Mohegan Tribe purchased the business in May in an attempt to diversify from the casino market.
Once the Tennessee plant is up and running, the company will provide 450,000 tons of wood pellets annual at its three locations. The other two are in Ohio and Indiana.
