Mohegan to showcase $80M Earth Expo & Convention Center

Mohegan Sun will unveil its new $80 million Earth Expo & Convention Center next week during a ribbon-cutting ceremony, casino officials said.

The 250,000-square-foot Earth Expo will be on display Wednesday, May 30 at 11 a.m. with several Mohegan tribal officials in attendance.

Earth Expo is fixed with eight loading docks, 15 high-tech meeting rooms, a 20,000-square-foot ballroom, a 3,500-square-foot wrap-around terrace and 20,000 square feet of entertainment or dining space. The space will also house a variety of trade, consumer and association trade shows and events already booked for 2018 and 2019, officials said.

In April 2017, the Mohegan tribe secured $80 million in financing to expand the convention center. The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, which owns and operates the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, first announced the proposed expo adjacent to the casino in March 2017.

The center is located in a formerly vacant area next to the casino’s Winter Garage and links to the garage and Earth casino and tower.
