Mohegan Sun has passed a background check by Massachusetts gambling regulators that allows it to continue pursuing a resort casino in Palmer, the Associated Press reported.
The AP said Mohegan and its affiliates were found to have adequate financial stability, available financial resources, integrity, responsibility and other character traits.
Mohegan is the first of a number of casino license candidates in Massachusetts — including Foxwoods —to be deemed suitable by the gaming commission, the AP said.
Mohegan’s next hurdle is a referendum vote in Palmer on Nov. 5.
