Mohegan books first increase in slots revenue since Dec. 2011

Mohegan Sun’s slots revenue grew 1 percent to $49 million in October, its first six-figure year-over-year increase since December 2011, it reported.

The casino’s “handle” — the total amount wagered in its slot machines during the month — increased from $576.5 million to $592.7 million over the year.

It will contribute $12.2 million to the state’s coffers for October, up about $100,000 from last October.

Mohegan saw an $18,000 increase in slots revenue in August.

Meanwhile, Foxwoods reported slots revenue of $42.1 million for October, down from $42.9 million in the same month last year.

As a result, the Ledyard casino will send $10.5 million to the state, down from $10.7 million a year ago.

Foxwoods’ handle fell $38.9 million, or 7.5 percent, to $480.7 million over the year.

Correction: The original version of this article incorrectly stated the last month in which Mohegan booked a year-over-year slots revenue increase. It recorded a small increase in August and a multimillion-dollar increase in December 2011, according to state records. The headline has also been amended.
