The Mohegan Tribe, which operates Mohegan Sun casino, said it has signed a franchise deal with Colorado-based Smashburger restaurants to open 16 locations in New England.
Smashburger is a seven-year-old fast casual chain offering regionally inspired menu items and craft beer at its more than 272 locations in 30 states and in four countries.
The nearest Smashburger locations are in White Plains, N.Y., and Natick, Mass., according to its website.
The Smashburger news follows announcements last month that the Mohegan Tribe plans to open 15 Arooga’s Grille House and Sports Bar locations in New England over the next five years, and that it is getting into the wood pellet manufacturing business.
