Mixed-use apartment development in Fairfield gets green light

The town of Fairfield’s Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a proposal for a four-story, 40-unit apartment building with retail space.

Sunshine Acquisitions Group LLC plans to knock down two houses and a former Fairfield Cigars store to construct the apartment building on a 0.7-acre parcel at 2179 and 2199 Post Road and 29 Fairfield Place, according to an application filed with the town.

Sunshine Acquisitions Group is led by Fairfield residents Marc Andre and Alexander Leykikh, state records show.

The development, which will be named Le Andre, will contain 39,742 square feet of residential space, 28,549 square feet of garaged parking space and 9,474 square feet of retail space. It will feature an outdoor plaza and dog run.

The 40 apartments – eight of which will be deemed affordable housing – will all be one-bedroom units, the application shows.

“Our vision for this development includes provision for upscale interior and exterior amenities and architecture that will be of high quality, unique and attractive,” the application said. “We believe that the outdoor space/public plaza in conjunction with a restaurant will provide an opportunity for a highly dynamic and multifunctional area that will animate activities in the proposed mixed use community as well as the surrounding neighborhood.”
