Milford manufacturer Bead installs new CNC unit

Bead Electronics has announced a significant capital investment with the installation of a GF Vertical Milling Center. The company says the new CNC unit significantly augments the Milford manufacturer’s capabilities in fine-pitch hard milling.

One of Bead’s unique selling propositions has long been the capability of providing customers a custom, production-tooled part delivered in three to six weeks, according to CEO Jill Mayer. The new technology will allow Bead to reduce its current tool making time by half, she said.

“Our customers value their partnership with Bead during the NPI [new product introduction] process, leveraging Bead’s creative approach to swaging for solutions to their applications,” added Lou Guerci, Bead’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Reducing the time from concept to actual parts will increase the value Bead brings to the design table.”

Mayer said Bead invested about $300,000 to acquire and install the new milling center as well as to train managers and shop-floor personnel in its use and maintenance.
