Michael Sweeney is retiring at yearend as chief executive officer of General Re Corp.’s United States Aviation Underwriters unit but will stay on as chairman through April, the Stamford insurer says.
President David McKay takes over as CEO of U.S. Aviation Underwriters (USAU) on New Year’s Day.
Gen Re Chairman and CEO Tad Montross hailed Sweeney’s leadership of USAU.
McKay joined USAU in 1978 and held various positions over the years. He was named president and chief operating officer in 2006 and has a seat on the USAU board.
