Intractable migraines and two other conditions could be added to the list of allowable treatments using medical marijuana, according to the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
The Board of Physicians had been considering five possible conditions, but on Wednesday had rejected anxiety disorders and Menieres disease. On Friday, DCP Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull decided to endorse their recommendations for intractable migraines, hydrocephalus with intractable headaches, and trigeminal neuralgia.
Next steps involve the department drafting a regulation to add the conditions, a public hearing and comment period, and legal review. Approval by the legislature’s regulation review committee is the final step.
There are 22 adult conditions treatable with medical marijuana and six conditions that patients under 18 are eligible for.
