Mid’town’s Greenskies hoists 5M-kilowatt-hour flag

Middletown solar-power installer Greenskies Renewable Energy reached a milestone this week when its Northeast solar installations produced their five-millionth kilowatt hour of electricity.

Greenskies, founded in 2008, said it reached the milestone on Monday. The company has 30,000 solar panels installed throughout the region and scheduled to add another 58,000 by the end of the year.

By yearend, that installed capacity of 88,000 panels will be enough to power 3,700 New England homes, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Among its other contracts, Greenskies reached a deal a year ago to install solar at 27 Walmart stores in New England, greatly expanding its installed capacity.
