The town of Middletown has established a $125,000 fund to help start-ups or expanding small businesses pay for certain expenses like business license fees or rent payments.
Funding for the Small Business Creation and Expansion grant program could grow to $625,000 over the next five years, officials said.
Recent start-ups or expanding small businesses are eligible to receive $1,500 grants that can be used for eligible expenses, such as business license fees, rent/lease payments, telephone/utility hook-up charges, inventory purchases and more.
The town is also launching a jobs training program for new hires. Both initiatives are being funded through a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant, which the city receives annually to improve the quality of life of its low and moderate income residents and reduce blight.
