Microsoft store’s Westfarms debut set March 1

Software giant Microsoft will officially debut its first Hartford area store and second in Connecticut March 1 in Westfarms mall.

Replacing a small kiosk site operating in the mall, the 3,700-square-foot store has already hired some 45 employees, spokesman Jonathan Adashek said.

The store will feature a merchandise assortment, including Surface, Windows 8 PCs, Windows Phones, Xbox One and Office products.

Staff also will provide a range of technical trainings on using business-ready personal computers and smartphones.

The store’s theater space also will be accessible free of charge to community organizations for hosting events, Adashek said.

Microsoft’s store inside Danbury Fair Mall, which opened in June 2012, is among 83 stores currently operating worldwide.
