New York insurer MetLife Inc., with operations in Hartford, says it sunk $10.4 billion into private debt and equity deals worldwide in 2010.
Specifically, the money went into corporate debt private placements, project financings and lease equity investments last year, said Scott Inglis, head of MetLife’s private securities group.
To date, the insurer’s $43 billion private securities portfolio covers companies across an array of industries spread over more than 30 countries, including the U.S., United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Australia, Canada and Latin America.
