MetLife names Vazquez procurement chief

MetLife Inc. today named John M. Vazquez vice president of vendor sourcing and corporate services and chief procurement officer, effective immediately.

Vazquez expand job will be to build relationships and negotiate with vendors to obtain information-technology equipment and services MetLife needs. He also continues to be responsible for providing for the insurance and financial services company’s real estate needs and other services.

Before joining MetLife, Vazquez was senior vice president, global facilities management at JP Morgan Chase.

Before that, he was program manager of real estate operations at IBM. Vazquez received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College in 1984 and an MBA degree from Fairfield’s Sacred Heart University in 1994.
