The sprawling office complex in Bloomfield housing MetLife’s Connecticut base has been sold for over $10 million.
The Metropolitan Tower Life Insurance Co. sold the 37-acre site to The Atrium CT LLC for $10,450,000, according to information provided by the Bloomfield Town Clerk’s office.
The Metropolitan Tower Life Insurance Co. is a MetLife company. It bought what was then Cigna’s South Building in 2007, facilitating MetLife’s move from Hartford’s CityPlace office tower to the suburbs north of the city.
According to state business records, The Atrium CT LLC was formed in September. It is controlled by Harry Tawil, who has a New York City mailing address.
The MetLife campus, situated at 1300 Hall Blvd., consists of several buildings covering a combined 648,399 square feet, town property records show.
The main office buildings were constructed in 1983.
MetLife purchased the office complex for $50 million and moved around 1,300 workers there from Hartford, in addition to other employees who had been based in Glastonbury and Rocky Hill. Cigna relocated its employees to the nearby Wilde Building, a modernist landmark in the region, after completing major renovations.
