A Bridgeport-based metals manufacturer and distributor is setting up operations in a Wolcott light industrial building following a $3.1 million purchase.
A limited liability company headed by ATA Steel Corp. President Teoman Ernamli acquired a 52,574-square-foot, 1980-vintage building at 238 Wolcott Road in a deed recorded by the town on Sept. 12.
The seller, WARE-IN LLC, of Newtown, Massachusetts, had acquired the building, which is near the Waterbury city line, for nearly $2.8 million in 2009.
Sean Duffy and Damon Bowers of Cushman & Wakefield were the listing brokers on the property. David Flayhan, of Norwalk-based Colonial Realty, represented the buyer.
The property was on the market for 18 months and a couple prospective buyers fell through due to financing challenges before a deal was struck with Ernamli’s LLC, Duffy said. He said the new owner will occupy the building and use it for manufacturing.
“We think it’s a great outcome and a good use for the building,” Duffy said.
The property had previously hosted a small machine shop, Duffy confirmed.
ATA is a manufacturer of chain-link fence and welded wire mesh sheets, as well as an importer and distributor of steel rebar, according to its website.
Attempts to reach Ernamli were not immediately successful Friday.
