Meriden HVAC contractor Plimpton & Hills sold to Atlanta company

A Meriden-based HVAC contractor, Plimpton & Hills Corp., has been acquired by a private equity firm headquartered in Atlanta.

Grove Mountain Partners announced Tuesday that it had acquired a majority stake in the company, which has 12 locations in Connecticut, three in Massachusetts and two in New York.

Plimpton & Hills was family-owned for 125 years. Deal terms weren’t disclosed.

As part of the deal, Plimpton & Hills executive vice president, Susan Montgomery, is being promoted to president.

Grove Mountain Partners is a private equity firm that invests in middle-market home service companies and specialty business service companies. It has annual revenue of between $15 million and $200 million

Plimpton & Hills has Connecticut showrooms in Berlin, Danbury, East Canaan, Fairfield, Farmington, Guilford, Hartford, Manchester, Stamford, Torrington, Wallingford and West Hartford.
