Meriden facility goes solar

Owners of an office and industrial complex in Meriden say they have completed installation of a 215-kilowatt solar array.

The 430,000-square-foot Meriden Enterprise Center, located on Pratt Street, expects to save more than $4.7 million over the next 20 years. The project received financing through the Connecticut Green Bank’s Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program, which allows owners to pay for efficiency projects over time through a charge on their property tax bill.

The solar panels are expected to produce 250,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

The center also upgraded its windows, rooftop cooling units and energy management system.
