A Meriden builder-turned-farmer, who graduated from the University of Connecticut more than a half century ago, has given $1.5 million to endow an agricultural chair at the school.
Richard “Dick” DelFavero, who graduated UConn in 1956 with a degree in agricultural engineering, the first endowed chair in Agricultural Resource Economics at UConn.
His family’s business, DelFavero Builders, has built more than 400 Connecticut condominiums, commercial and industrial buildings.
DelFavero eventually bought a 500-acre dairy farm in northern Vermont, where he now raises beef cattle.
