Merchants Raise Funds for Fire Department

In September, merchants in the Riverdale Farms Shopping Plaza on Route 10 in Avon held “The Taste of Riverdale Farms” to kick off “Firefighter Appreciation Week” during which participating merchants donated a portion of their proceeds to the Avon Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD). The free event featured games, giveaways, cooking demonstrations and samples, sidewalk sales, and over $1,500 in prizes. The AVFD hosted a vehicle extrication drill and fire extinguisher training exercises. On Oct. 12, Adam and David Pianka, brothers and co-owners of Papacelle, presented a check for $2,390 to the AVFD.
