The Connecticut Attorney General’s Office is compelling New York fuel oil provider Meehan Oil to send letters of correction and undo all its ill-gotten contracts based on solicitations falsely implying the company had exclusivity to the customers from now defunct Bernie’s Oil, Family Discount Oil and Clark Oil.
In 10,000 consumer postcards, Meehan stated it had exclusive approval from U.S. Bankruptcy Court to deliver oil to the customers of those defunct companies; but in reality, Meehan only had purchased the companies’ customer lists.
Consumers who purchased oil or signed a contract with Meehan based on the postcards should call the attorney general’s office at (860) 808-5400.
