Medical supply factory in Meriden set for auction in October

A medical supply plant in Meriden is set for auction in October, according to an online listing.

The 326,730-square-foot building is at 550 Research Parkway and is owned by a New York investor.

The facility was home to Aplicare, which developed and manufactured products to help prevent skin infection from needles or surgery. The company sold its products to hospitals and to other companies that create kits for use by healthcare facilities, according to an archived version of its website.

In August 2017, Aplicare was acquired by Medline Industries, an Illinois-based healthcare manufacturer and distributor.

A Medline spokesperson said the company made the difficult decision to cease operations of the plant, which manufactures topical antiseptics, on Dec. 31. It has been undergoing a gradual ramp down of activities throughout the year.

“This decision is in no way reflective of our appreciation for our team’s efforts or the quality of their work,” the company said.

The online auction is set for Oct. 17. A site inspection is scheduled for Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The auction company, Enfield-based Capital Recovery Group LLC, is also accepting presale offers for equipment in the building.
