The latest statistics from the Department of Consumer Protection show medical marijuana registrations are well ahead of expected levels. Since just before Labor Day, registration has grown by over 40 percent.
As of Dec. 15, the number of registered patients was 7,665 compared to 6,726 as of Oct. 15. Since Aug. 28, statewide registration has grown 43 percent since Aug. 28 when 5,357 users were registered..
New Haven county leads the state when it comes to medical marijuana. Registration numbers are well ahead of where expected, according to the DCP. It had anticipated having 6,000 medical marijuana users by this point in time.
Number of registered patients per county in decreasing order:
- New Haven: 1,997
- Fairfield: 1,817
- Hartford: 1,582
- New London: 771
- Litchfield: 490
- Middlesex: 434
- Tolland: 301
- Windham: 273
The state currently has six dispensary facilities and four producers for medical marijuana.
