New Britain’s Center for Special Care has sold its nearby Brittany Farms Health Center to a Maryland nursing home operator that already runs four other homes in Connecticut, authorities say.
Aurora Health Management on Monday bought the 282-bed home at 400 Brittany Farms Road and has already received the necessary regulatory approvals to complete the deal, officials said.
Terms of the sale are not being disclosed, they said.
Aurora, based in Millersville, Md., operates skilled nursing facilities in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maryland. The Connecticut homes include Aurora Senior Living of Bucks Hill in Waterbury; Aurora Senior Living of Cromwell; Aurora Senior Living of East Hartford ;and Aurora Senior Living of Norwalk.
HSC Community Services, Inc. Chairman David J. Kelly said the organization was not actively seeking a buyer for Brittany Farms, but its board directs management to routinely explore options and partnerships in an effort to optimize operations.
Aurora was among potential partners consulted and consequently expressed an interest in acquiring Brittany Farms as a part of its growth plan in Connecticut, Kelly said.
