MDC unveils Windsor solar array

The Metropolitan District said a new solar array is now operational at its satellite wastewater plant in Windsor.

The 1,078 solar panels are projected to offset some of the 330,000 kilowatts hours per year consumed by the Poquonock Water Pollution Control Facility.

Under a power purchase agreement, the MDC said it expects to save $20,000 a year for the next 15 years.

The MDC is a government-chartered nonprofit that counts Hartford and seven surrounding communities among its membership. It also supplies water to several other communities.
