A new campaign finance report shows former World Wrestling Entertainment executive Linda McMahon has already spent about $6.5 million of her own money on a bid for the U.S. Senate.
The report, posted Monday on the Federal Elections Commission web site, shows McMahon of Greenwich has loaned $6 million to the campaign and spent about $525,000 of her own money on campaign expenses and in-kind contributions.
McMahon is one of three Republicans vying for the GOP nomination, hoping to fill the seat being vacated by Democratic U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd.
McMahon stepped down as CEO of WWE in September 2009 to run for the Senate. She has said she’ll spend up to $50 million of her own money to remain independent from special interests. She has received at least $11,582 in small contributions. (AP)
