Hartford attorney Catherine A. Mohan, partner in McCarter & English, has been named the first female treasurer in the New Jersey law firm’s history.
Mohan’s appointment was effective Feb. 1.
A founding partner in McCarter’s Hartford office 10 years ago, Mohan also took over as chair of the finance committee, overseeing its budget and other fiscal matters, and gained a seat on the firm’s executive committee.
She will continue her work in the product liability practice as one of the leading asbestos defense lawyers in the Northeast, Executive Committee Chairman Michael P. Kelly said.   Â
Mohan earned her B.A. from Wheaton College and law degree from Georgetown University. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, and Hartford County Bar Association.
She also serves on the board for Mercy Housing and Shelter and chairs its capital campaign. Mohan is a board member and the past president of the Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation.
Newark-based McCarter’s 400 attorneys are spread among offices in Hartford, Stamford, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Wilmington, Del.
